Life's A Stage!! Term 3

For this term (3), our theme is “Life’s A Stage!”

My thoughts for this term’s theme is drama+music, one of my favorite subjects in school. I am excited and looking forward to learning  more about different music types and performing because the school production is coming very soon.
During the term,  learning and creating songs of my own is what I am hoping I could do.

My favorite singer is Beyonce because she is good at reaching high notes and has amazing trills. My dream is to meet her and have a photo with her.

I cannot wait until the school production and what it might be called. I hope that our production is going to be fancy, fun and musical as it is also my last year at Pt England School.
As auditions come, I’d feel agitated to sign up for acting and singing.

Looking forward to more! LIFE’S A STAGE!!!!!!

Shocking News! Spain Train Derailment

Emergency personnel respond to the scene of a train derailment in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Photo / AP

35 people were found dead and approximately 200 were badly injured in Galicia in northwestern Spain this morning after a terrifying train crash. There were bodies lying on the railway.

An accident also occurred in a city near Santiago de compostela says the renfe railway company. Carrying 238 passengers, the train originated in Madrid and was bound for the northwestern town of Ferrol as the Galicia region was preparing celebrations in honour of its patron saint James. It derailed near Santiago de Compostela and no one knows why. Here is the link to the site I had found it from.

The Royal Baby!

Princess Kate and Prince William recently had their first child A.K.A "The Royal Baby" at the St Marys Hospital. Queen Elizabeth wasn't that patient because her holiday in Scotland was coming very soon just as the baby was.

It says that they are planning to name it either James or George. I prefer James because I think it's a name not many people have. Anyway,  everyone was happy and a heap of people around the world had already had their decorations and costumes set for celebration.

I am glad that Kate and William has had a boy/son. What a big deal!

Jackie Thomas: NZ's 1st X Factor Winner

TV3 calms X Factor complaints: 'Your votes went through'
Did you watch the last X Factor episode? Well on Sunday, three competitors from NZ X Factor had to sing for survival to win the massive amount of money. They were Whenua Patuwai, Benny Tipene and Jackie Thomas.
All the 3 talented singers fought the difficulty and disciplining and no one was safe through the whole competition.

Watching X Factor for the last Sunday night, I was telling everyone Whenua is going to win with confidence. They all did well and sang their hearts out. As it finished, I snuggled into bed feeling excited about all the votes Mr Patuwai could get.

Monday night:  "Well, this is it. The last episode for 2013" I said. Everyone who had been eliminated from performing live on stage came back and they all sang together. I was blown away.

The votes were in to see who goes home first. "Benny Tipene!" A lot of people may have been really sad, but I was happy as Whenua and Jackie were the last 2 left. "Ooooooh this is going to be TIGHT!" My sister said.

Jackie and Whenua has just finished singing the song they sang at their audition and it was obvious both were feeling nervous.

After the commercial, it was time to announce the winner for 2013 and it was 'JACKIE THOMAS!!' "Nooooooooooooo!"  I shouted.

Thomas' family and friends were very proud. As the end came, I felt sad!

Day 1: Holiday 14/07/13

Last week Friday was a really busy day. Performing, shared lunch and cleaning for next term was all we did as it was also the last day of term 2. Everyone was excited, but I really didn’t want school to finish.

My highlights for term 2 was making movies, writing my own song and creating awesomeness. Holidays maybe a time for us all to spend time with our families and friends, but it also means that everyone of us has done a great job in school. During the term, rules have changed. School now for the yr 7&8 starts at 8:30am and the difficulty for the students has increased a lot so my low-lights are having to follow the hard rules. As the end of the came, our school had an assembly as always. We watched some of the movies our senior groups has made during our literacy rotation. Some were hilarious and some were sad.

"Dididididididididididing!!!!” Well, there goes the last bell for the second term.

“Happy Holidays!!!!” Our whole school screamed and shouted in excitement. As we were leaving, I saw some sad faces and a lot of kisses and hugs!

This is what I have been up to on my first day of the holidays:
Last night Sunday, my eldest sister invited some of my cousins, nieces, nephews and her friends to come over for a movie night and a sleep over. As we were waiting for everyone to come, my sisters cleaned the big sitting room (we have 2 sitting rooms) for the kids and the small sitting room for those 16+. In the meantime, my oldest and I went to buy the ingredients dinner and also snacks & goodies for us to eat while we’re watching.

Arriving home, I knew everyone has arrived because my some of my brothers and cousins cars there. We entered the door and the little rascals were running around while the older lots played kinect and play station.

“Dinner time!” My sister called from the dining room. Everyone who had been invited walked into the dining room smelling my mum’s beautiful butter chicken. There were loads of food and my favorite was the garlic bread and Spaghetti Bolognaise.

Shortly after we finished dinner, it was dessert time. We had french vanilla with pavlova (my granddads favorite.) After we finished having dessert, we entered the sitting room which had a big screen with the projector facing it.

Shivering in our blankets, it felt like 'home' cinemas.

. We were watching  all the Madea Movies, Sound Of Music, The Blind Side, Pitch Perfect, Despicable Me, Something New and Joyful Noise (my family is really into music.) WOW! We thought. The movie started

Eating my yummy caramel popcorn, we were all given a drink, chips, lollies, chocolate and biscuit to share during the movie.

‘Something New’ had finished and lucky no-one was a sleep. My sister told us that whoever sleeps last doesn't get to do any chores tomorrow morning after breakfast. We’re going to bowling tomorrow.

After about 3 movies, 7 of my cousins fell asleep and there was only 13 of us left.  During our fourth movie, I felt really tired and couldn't bare to keep my eyes open so I gave up.

Sleeping in my comfortable bed I suddenly woke up and pretended that I had never been sleeping. There were only 5 left and I asked my cousin next to me what movie we were up to and he said 5th but he saw me fall asleep and had already told my sister I had fallen asleep. So I was permanently out of the game. I still watched the movie and kept on checking if anyone was awake. Lying there awake were my 2 cousins Canaan and Marian. “It’s all up to you 2 finalist.” They’re really good at not falling asleep in competition and once, my niece Marian slept until 6am.

It was our last movie and Canaan had fallen asleep. Marian was happy as she won for the 3rd time of our sleep over.
The older lots were also having a competition to see who sleeps last and my sister Lana won.

I enjoyed having my cousins, nephews and nieces over. “I couldn't wait till tomorrow.” I told my cousin Marian.”

Paris Live on News - The Girl With Gold Locks!!

 http://s3.amazonaws.com/pizap_gallery/070913/medium/pizap.com10.406314581632614141373427194471.jpg

Reporter: We have just witnessed a girl name Paris who has been ignored by the kingdom her whole life. Paris is here with us today.
So Paris tell us about what has caused this critical situation.

Paris: Well, as you can see I was born with ambras syndrome and gold locks. Everyone who lived in the kingdom I had belonged to were brunette and somehow jealous about my beautiful hair. Ever since I was born all the way to my early teens, I was ignored by everyone in the kingdom.  I felt frightened as I heard in a private meeting that they were planning on killing me. My parents would always act like I wasn’t there at all. One day, I tried to get along with some of the people there, but they refused talking to me. The ignorant and opposition of the kingdom against me has increased a lot.

Reporter: WOW! Thats really sad to hear!

Paris: Yes, it is. It all started when I was brought into the castle of the King one night. He had given me 2 options which had made me afraid. My options were to either spend the rest of my life in prison or to be eaten by the LIONS!!! Of the kingdom. ‘Geeeees, what's up with these people.’ I thought.
After spending 5 years in prison, I was sentenced to caughts and had to live in a cold and dark underground lair. After 2 days sleeping without a blanket, pillow or any food, I felt like giving up until.............. I realized there has been people with me inside the underground lair. I was terrified that they could’ve killed me. But they too were worried and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Suddenly, there was a tall looking boy who drew near me and told me about his life and why he was with us.

I got use to not having any food or drink, even though it’s impossible. That boy had a similar story to mine and he too was kicked out of the same kingdom I was in. So I had looked up to him as a brother until one day.......... I found out he actually was my brother when he told me that everyone in the kingdom was the children of the KING! I was horrified as I thought I had my own family even though they neglected me too. Oh, no wonder why the king said, “My daughter, you have 2 options.....”

Reporter: WOW! Paris, im impressed you have found someone to look up to. I think that you have told us enough. No-one wants to see you feeling emotional. Thanks for being here with us. Well, that is us for today, see you tomorrow same time, same place!!! I am Hosannah Setefano, your reporter for today and this is, Wild life news. "Kakite a popo!"

'Prospective Yailo!'

During our team 5 literacy rotation, one of our task was to write about the short film we had watched, 'Prospective Student.'

Having to reach the top of an unsteady mountain, Yailo restlessly persevered his way through to be accepted into the ‘Class of Master’ with determination. Yailo wearily pushed himself up as he recognized the Dojo from afar. So he walked up the long hill in tiresome.

Finally arriving to the dojo, Yailo came to a monstrous door! He knocked in anxiety and hoped to be accepted in. Hearing footsteps coming closer, the major nerves went into him. A furious, funny looking Sensei answered the towered door and pointed to his right hand side. “What a waste of time!” Yailo thought.

Evening passed and morning came as Yailo moderated in front of the same door wishing the Sensei would welcome him in . Again, footsteps came towards him as he felt solicitous. Mighty Angus Sensei came out and pointed to his right again.

Sadly walking to the side, Yailo felt like he has been rejected BUT................. Grief and anguish suddenly came over him as he clutched his eyes in a mad manner. Returning back to the door, Yailo crouched in karate mode and surprisingly smashed the door open. The Sensei walked out again as Yailo was still in karate mode trying to discipline himself not to be afraid. It was the third time the Sensei had pointed to his right as Yailo realized he was pointing to the sign beside him saying, ‘Please use the side entrance.’ “Ooops, my bad.” Yailo thought in embarrassment.

Working With Joshua Iosefo!

We were fortunate to have Joshua Iosefo for our writing rotation. I was inspired by how he taught us about ‘Spoken Words’ and what they meant.

Spoken words means having a valuable voice and expressing our feelings to those around us. Joshua drew scribbles on the board and got us to write about how we thought about it. This was where my spoken words started:

I see random lines on the whiteboard and maybe it is a sign for our enviroment to be cleaner or it might be showing us a symbol of how our teachers are earning money for doing nothing.

After sharing our thoughts of how we felt about the scribbling, we were given a question and wrote about it.

Question: If you could say anything to the word, what would it be?

I compared the meanings to careless people in our project/community to think about what their doing to affect our environment. Also on those who condemn others by their skin colour or looks. I think that we can actually change the world by helping those who suffer or fail from school, work, or money. You may be wondering, “How could we change the world or make it a better place?” This had just reminded me on the movie, “Freedom Writers.” The teacher felt annoyed by her students complaining on how tedious school was. But she never gave up. She wanted them to leave school happily and for them to have a good courier in the future. So she thought about how she could make a change for them. What did she do? Well she handed them note-books each to treat as a diary and write anything on it especially about things happening to them at home and out of school. In the end of the movie, the students were inspired by their teacher and followed in her steps.

So we cannot just leave problems lying there and not fixing critical situation. MAKE A CHANGE!!

It was cool working with Joshua Iosefo!!!!
